Randy Meyer Racing made a memorable impact at the $15,000 Top Alcohol Dragster Shootout held at Cecil County Dragway this past weekend. The team arrived with two A/Fuel dragsters, led by former world champion Megan Meyer and accomplished driver Gary Pritchett, delivering thrilling side-by-side action and standout performances.
Megan Meyer, returning to quarter-mile competition after five years away, drove the GUNK-backed dragster to a strong 5.19-second run at 277 mph during qualifying, securing the third spot. Gary Pritchett, supported by Hedingerโs Equipment and Hoopes Fire Prevention, impressed the local crowd with a career-best 5.15 at 275 mph, earning second place overall.
In the opening elimination round, Megan faced Brandon Greco and his blown-alcohol dragster. Although Greco was ahead at half-track, Meganโs quick reaction and solid horsepower pushed her ahead at the finish line, finishing the run in 5.22 seconds.
Meganโs return ended in round two after a red-light start against Kelly Kundratic. Gary Pritchett advanced on two single runs to reach the semifinals, where he faced Kundratic and delivered a strong 5.17 at 275 mph to secure a spot in the final.
In the concluding round, Gary lined up against DJ Cox in Tom Foxโs blown-alcohol dragster. After adjustments to the racing surface, Garyโs machine spun the tires early and lifted the wheels in a pedal attempt, finishing with a 5.47 at 272 mph as Cox took the win with a 5.30-second run.
The weekend proved special for both drivers, especially Gary, who praised Cecil County Dragway as a fantastic facility and expressed gratitude for racing in front of a hometown crowd. He highlighted the teamโs consistent performance through qualifying and eliminations, sharing that the weekendโs efforts have energized the team for the rest of the season.
Meganโs comeback was marked by both excitement and some disappointment. She enjoyed competing against familiar teams but reflected on the challenges of returning after a long break, acknowledging the mental side of racing and expressing determination to return for future events at the track. Despite not taking home the top prize, Randy Meyer Racing left Cecil County with their heads held high after recording strong runs and career bests. The weekendโs results and experiences created new motivation for the drivers and crew, setting the tone for a competitive summer.
Both drivers also recognized their supporters and sponsors, sharing gratitude for their ongoing contributions. As the season continues, Randy Meyer Racing looks ready to build on their latest achievements with aims for more final-round appearances and breakthrough victories.
