Kyle Larson is facing one of the busiest months of his racing career as he tackles the challenge known as “The Double,” racing both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25. The month of May finds Larson not only competing on multiple race tracks, but also switching between different types of race cars while making frequent cross-country trips.

Larson, who drives for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series, started this action-packed stretch by claiming a strong victory at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, May 11.

Just a day after his win in Kansas, Larson headed to Indiana for sprint car racing in the High Limit Racing series at Kokomo Speedway. Starting deep in the field, he charged from 17th to finish sixth on Monday, May 12, while Rico Abreu captured the win.

After that, his focus quickly shifted to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he began preparations for his Indianapolis 500 debut. Larson completed his rookie orientation program and took part in practice sessions scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, through Friday, May 16, including the ROP & Refreshers at 12:15 p.m. and practice sessions at 2:15 p.m. and noon on multiple days.

The schedule did not slow down as qualifying for the prestigious Indy 500 approached. On Saturday, May 17, Larson participated in Indy 500 qualifying at 11 a.m., following a busy Friday that included extensive NASCAR All-Star Race activities at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

He balanced practice and qualifying sessions for both NASCAR and IndyCar, with NASCAR All-Star pit road qualifying at 4:30 p.m. and the main qualifying session at 7 p.m. that evening.

Sunday, May 18, featured yet more track time for Larson, including the Top 12 and last chance qualifying rounds for the Indianapolis 500, along with a final chance to make the starting field in the Firestone Fast Six at 6:25 p.m.

Later the same day, he raced in the NASCAR All-Star Race at 8 p.m. The intensity continued with additional Indy 500 practices on Monday, May 19, and a media tour in New York City on Tuesday, May 20, allowing Larson little time away from the racing world.

Larson’s preparation for the big weekend continued with Carb Day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday, May 23, which included an important practice session at 11 a.m. and the Indy 500 pit stop challenge at 2:30 p.m.

The following day, Saturday, May 24, he attended the Indy 500 public drivers meeting at 10:30 a.m. before shifting gears to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600 race weekend, taking part in NASCAR practice at 1:30 p.m. and qualifying at 2:40 p.m.

The month’s highlight arrives Sunday, May 25. At 12:45 p.m. ET, Larson will line up for his first Indianapolis 500, followed by the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte at 6 p.m.

Attempting this rare Double places him among a select group of racers, as few have tried or completed both major races on the same day. The challenge requires physical endurance, sharp focus, and determination, all of which Larson has shown throughout the month.

With a demanding mix of practice sessions, qualifying events, media appearances, and two of motorsports’ biggest races, May is packed with opportunity for Kyle Larson. Fans and teams will be watching to see if he can add another chapter to racing history by completing the Double and delivering strong performances in both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600.
