Cadillac has revealed the new Mobil 1 paint scheme that Wayne Taylor Racing will use for its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. The No. 101 Cadillac V-Series.R, driven by Ricky Taylor, Jordan Taylor, and Filipe Albuquerque, completes Cadillacโs lineup of Hypercar entries for the iconic French race.
The car completed its first laps with the fresh livery at Putnam Park near Indianapolis before heading to Europe for the competition. This marks a new challenge for Wayne Taylor Racing, a team well-known in North American endurance racing.
Mobil 1 is the primary sponsor on the No. 101, replacing DEX Imaging, which supported the teamโs two-car IMSA campaign this season. Mobil 1 continues its long-term partnership with Cadillac and its motorsport programs.
The livery change follows an earlier expansion of the Mobil 1 and Cadillac collaboration that includes Jota Sportโs full-season World Endurance Championship (WEC) efforts with the V-Series.R. Jota will maintain its metallic gold and teal colors on the No. 12 and No. 38 cars at Le Mans, while the Action Express entry will feature the No. 311 in its usual red and white scheme.
Wayne Taylor Racing joins a growing number of teams entering the top class at Le Mans. Another regular IMSA team, Action Express Racing, is also fielding a Cadillac for the race.
Rules allow manufacturers with full-season Hypercar entries, like Cadillac, to add extra cars for Le Mans, although only full-season entries earn championship points. This year, three Cadillac V-Series.Rs will compete.
In previous years, Chip Ganassi Racing led Cadillacโs WEC efforts. Wayne Taylor Racing brings a strong legacy to Le Mans.
Between 2017 and 2021, WTR won the Rolex 24 at Daytona four times, three with Cadillac power and once with Acura. They also achieved victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring, two of the biggest endurance events in the U.S.
Team owner Wayne Taylor himself is familiar with Le Mans, having raced there 13 times between 1987 and 2002. His first outing resulted in a fourth-place overall finish in a Porsche 962C, and he claimed an LMP1 class win in 1998 driving a Ferrari 333SP.
This rich history adds extra significance as WTR lines up at Circuit de la Sarthe as a full team. The Cadillac V-Series.R features a 5.5-liter V-8 engine combined with a hybrid system, adhering to LMDh regulations.
The car was developed with Dallara and Cadillacโs design team and debuted in the 2023 season. It has already earned podiums and strong finishes at major events like Sebring, Daytona, and past Le Mans races across North America and Europe.
Mobil 1, as the teamโs mobility partner, says the new livery reflects Cadillacโs commitment to performance and innovationโqualities evident in the teamโs legacy and approach to endurance racing. With solid racing experience and backing from a major global brand, Wayne Taylor Racing is poised for its Le Mans debut.
This yearโs 24 Hours of Le Mans Hypercar grid features top manufacturers including Ferrari, Toyota, Porsche, BMW, Peugeot, Alpine, and Lamborghini. Cadillac faces some of the biggest names in global endurance racing.
The race is scheduled for June 14-15, promising 24 hours of intense competition for every team and driver fortunate enough to take the start.
