Justin Lamb has made a name for himself in Sportsman drag racing as one of the most successful drivers in the history of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. He has claimed five world championships and collected 31 national event wins along with 34 division-level victories.
In 2017, Lamb achieved a rare double by winning both the Stock and Super Stock points titles, becoming just the third driver to do so. A year later, he cemented his legacy by sweeping Stock and Super Stock at the Las Vegas national event, a feat matched by only 29 other racers.
Justinโs entry into motorsports was sparked by his father, Chris. Although Chris did not race himself, his enthusiasm for fast boats introduced the family to the world of engines.
Their first venture into drag racing came when they bought a Jr. Dragster when Justin was eight. With no prior experience, the Lamb family learned together and quickly became regulars at the track.
Competitiveness and a love for racing helped Justin build a path from Jr. Dragsters to the national stage. Over his career, he has worked with some of the best in the sport.
Peter Biondo, regarded as one of drag racingโs elite drivers, became a close friend and mentor to Justin. Kyle Seipel also played a key role, teaching him the finer points of dialing in a race car and making the right calls on race day.
Both mentors helped shape Justinโs driving abilities while giving advice for life beyond the drag strip. This foundation was crucial as Lamb continued to rack up wins and add more championship trophies to his shelf.
In recent years, Justin has shifted some focus to helping others succeed in the sport. He now coaches alongside three-time champion Luke Bogacki in the This Is Bracket Racing Elite program.
As an instructor, he assists racers with everything from tuning and setup to driving strategy. Lamb also supports young drivers like Dylan Hough with car preparation and race day decisions.
This partnership nearly resulted in a championship win for Hough last season, alongside several national event victories. Sharing his experience has become a point of pride for Justin.
He feels a special reward when helping fellow racers find their footing and hit new milestones. This reminds him of the support given by Biondo and Seipel, and he values these moments of giving back to the sport.
Seeing excitement and growth in others, especially younger racers and new families in the Jr. Dragster classes, is something Justin enjoys as much as competing. While his dedication to racing remains strong, his perspective has evolved over time.
Family plays an even bigger role in his life now, and he cherishes attending his sonโs soccer games and his daughterโs dance events as much as time spent on the racetrack. He admits this has reduced his race schedule, but the friendships in the drag racing community continue to make it worthwhile.
For Justin Lamb, the satisfaction of competition goes hand in hand with the joy of guiding the next generation of racers forward. His story mirrors many pursuits of excellence seen across motorsports, akin to milestones like the recent Alex Palou Indy500 win, highlighting the dedication required to succeed on and off the track under the FIA Global Sporting Regulations.
