Jeb Burton has made headway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series during his third season with Jordan Anderson Racing. Since his debut over a decade ago, Burton has shown determination and confidence, often expressing that he can win if given the right car.
In the last three years, he found consistency with the Jordan Anderson Racing team, building a strong relationship with owner Jordan Anderson. Burton credits their similar outlooks and mutual loyalty for their growing success.
Burtonโs progress with the team was evident when he secured a surprising victory at Talladega Superspeedway in 2023. This win helped push the No. 27 car into the playoffs and resulted in a 12th-place finish in the overall standings that year.
However, the following season started slowly. The first two-thirds of the 2024 campaign saw Burton struggling, with his average finish dropping to 21.6, marking the lowest point of his Xfinity career.
Changes arrived before the 2025 season. Mark Setzer joined as Burtonโs new crew chief, bringing experience from Jeremy Clements Racing.
Shane Whitbeck, Burtonโs previous crew chief, took on a new role as competition director, helping the team make strategic improvements. These staff adjustments quickly showed results.
Burtonโs average finish improved by more than seven positions compared to the previous year, and he now ranks 14 places higher in the standings than at this point last season.
At the midway mark of the 2025 regular season, Burton sits ninth in the championship standings, just nine points behind fifth place. He holds the tenth spot in the playoff points grid, maintaining a slim 44-point lead over fifteenth position.
Burton knows the margin leaves little room for error in the thirteen remaining races. He believes the key to making the playoffs is avoiding mistakes and mechanical problems, while continuing to capitalize on the teamโs improved performance.
Jordan Anderson credits steady development for the turnaround in 2025. Burton already has four top-10 finishes this year, surpassing his total from all 33 races in 2024.
Although a win has not yet materialized this seasonโhe finished just short at Talladega in Aprilโthe teamโs data-driven approach and deeper understanding of Burtonโs driving preferences have delivered clear gains.
Burton focuses on earning stage points at every race. Decisions during recent events, such as staying out longer at Rockingham Speedway or pitting for fresh tires at Charlotte, have helped earn valuable points, even when the finishing position was outside the top ten.
This approach has kept them competitive as the series prepares for a challenging stretch that includes superspeedway and road course tracks, environments where Burton often excels.
The second half of the regular season begins at Nashville Superspeedway, where Burton and the team aim to maintain their upward trend. Eight of the next thirteen races will test their skills on either superspeedways or road courses.
While making the playoffs without a race win would be a significant feat, Burton remains relaxed, enjoying outpacing expectations. Anderson, while acknowledging the stress of staying in contention, trusts that consistent finishes and solid race days will keep the team in the playoff hunt as the season continues.
Recent challenges for other drivers, such as Kyle Larsonโs multiple setbacks, highlight the importance of reliability and consistency Burton is targeting in his campaign.
Meanwhile, strategic team orders and decisions continue to shape competitive narratives within the series, a dynamic Jordan Anderson Racing aims to navigate effectively.
