Maximilian Günther delivered a standout performance at the Shanghai E-Prix, securing his second Formula E win of the season after a tense and unpredictable race. He started from pole position and managed to keep his rivals at bay, leading the field across the finish line after 28 hard-fought laps.

Vergne executed a late double overtake on both Ticktum and Barnard to clinch second, delivering DS Penske a rare and unexpected one-two finish. Ticktum, who started deeply in the order from 21st, crossed the line in fourth after an impressive comeback.

Championship leader Rowland finished fifth to extend his lead in the standings. Rowland’s total rose to 86 points, creating a comfortable gap over nearest rival Barnard.

The McLaren driver was unable to hold off the late charge from Vergne but came away with valuable points for third place. A mix of strategy, well-timed boosts, and aggressive moves kept the Shanghai crowd guessing as positions shifted throughout the race. This recalls some of the rule clashes McLaren has faced in Formula 1 that required sharp adjustments mid-race.

DS Penske were the big winners with both cars on the podium, while setbacks for Jaguar and recovery drives by Ticktum and Evans provided additional storylines. Günther’s dominant display underlined his growing confidence as he continues to challenge for more wins this season.

With the points table shaken up and DS Penske celebrating their first one-two finish, attention now turns to the next E-Prix.
