Arvid Lindblad took a big step in the 2025 Formula 2 championship chase by winning the feature race at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. He crossed the finish line under safety car conditions, adding 25 points to his total and moving him into the title fight.

Lindblad, representing Campos Racing, secured this crucial win while Sebastian Montoya, racing for Prema, finished second. Richard Verschoor from MP Motorsport took the third and final spot on the podium, closing the gap to championship leader Alex Dunne.

Alex Dunne, driving for Rodin Motorsport, finished fifth in the race but gathered an extra point for setting the fastest lap. However, his day was complicated by a yellow flag infringement that brought him to the attention of race officials.

Jak Crawford, a McLaren junior at DAMS Lucas Oil, managed to finish just ahead of Dunne in fourth place. The stewards kept busy throughout the race as multiple incidents unfolded, resulting in time penalties and a handful of retirements. Notably, discussions around McLarenโ€™s setup have been in the spotlight following the event, especially concerning modifications similar to the ones recently seen in F1 with the McLaren F1 front wing.

Luke Browning, a key figure in the championship and a Williams junior, had a tough race. First, he was delayed by Joshua Durksen, who received a five-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

Browningโ€™s own race went from bad to worse when he made contact with Ritomo Miyata, causing damage to his carโ€™s front wing and forcing an additional pit stop. This incident earned Browning a ten-second penalty from the stewards and left him outside the top positions.

Another pre-race favorite, Leonardo Fornaroli, suffered a major setback with a ten-second stop-and-go penalty after a starting procedure infringement. He was unable to recover and would eventually retire from the race.

Rafael Villagomez also failed to finish, adding to the drama in Barcelona. The final order saw Pepe Marti, Kush Maini, Victor Martins, Ritomo Miyata, and Gabriele Mini rounding out the points-paying spots from sixth through tenth place.

The feature race observed fewer on-track battles compared to the previous sprint event, but decisions from race officials shaped much of the final outcome. Consistency, avoiding penalties, and strategic calls from the teams proved vital, reflecting the kind of precision seen in top-tier racing such as Formula 1โ€™s F1 flexi wing Spanish GP.

The results remain provisional as stewards completed their reviews. The sixth round of the F2 championship ultimately brought new momentum to Lindbladโ€™s title quest.

Attention in the paddock is already turning to the upcoming rounds, with teams looking for improvement ahead of the Canadian and Austrian stops later in June. As always, points gained here could make the difference over the rest of the season.

The Spanish round has given everyone a clearer view of the championship dynamics as the midseason mark approaches. The 2025 F2 season continues to offer surprises with every race, and fans are following each development closely.

With Lindblad now firmly in the mix, the fight at the top of the standings is tighter than ever.
