Justin Allgaier raced to his third win of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season at Nashville Superspeedway, showing strong performance behind the wheel of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. The race, held on May 31, saw Allgaier make a decisive move from third on the final restart at Lap 140.
He surged past his teammate Connor Zilisch and Brandon Jones to take the lead and controlled the competition for 101 of 188 laps at the 1.33-mile concrete Nashville track.
Zilisch finished as runner-up, shadowing Allgaier through the closing laps but unable to make the pass. Sam Mayer came in third, while Sheldon Creed and Ross Chastain rounded out the top five.
Positions six through ten included Aric Almirola, Austin Hill, Jesse Love, Daniel Dye, and Carson Kvapil, all putting up notable performances to earn valuable points in the standings.
Polesitter William Sawalich faced tough luck during the event. The Joe Gibbs Racing rookie spun after contact with Sammy Smith exiting Turn 2 on Lap 135, resulting in a late-race crash that dropped him to 35th in the final order.
Sawalich completed 163 of 188 laps before his night ended early in the No. 18 Toyota, continuing a challenging run during his first Xfinity Series campaign.
Allgaierโs dominance throughout the long green-flag stretches was clear, especially as he managed lapped traffic while maintaining the front position. His experience on concrete tracks and Nashvilleโs unique surface helped him stretch his lead.
The win also increased his series points advantage to 92 over Austin Hill, who finished seventh. Allgaierโs victory margin over Zilisch was 1.289 seconds as they crossed the checkered flag.
After the race, Allgaier stressed the importance of his teamโs preparation, noting how much Nashville means to him personally. He highlighted the special connection with the track and was excited about the prospect of adding another Nashville guitar trophy to his familyโs collection, especially for his daughters.
Connor Zilisch, despite finishing second in back-to-back weeks, was upbeat about his race but wanted more out of the final restart. He acknowledged Allgaierโs skill and clean execution, while reflecting on improving his own starts for future races.
Other drivers in the top ten, including Mayer, Creed, and Chastain, also gained momentum as the season heads into the summer stretch.
The next event for the Xfinity Series is set for June 14, when drivers will return to Mexico Cityโs Autรณdromo Hermanos Rodrรญguez for the first time since 2008. Fans and teams alike are preparing for the unique challenge of racing internationally as the championship battle continues to heat up in the 2025 season.
