Gerard Neveu, the former CEO of the FIA World Endurance Championship, has accepted a new role as CEO of Retromobile US. Retromobile is an event that brings together car collectors, vendors, and automotive fans in Paris every year, and the New York edition will mark its debut in the United States at the Javits Center from November 19 to 22 next year.

Neveu has spent over 25 years working in motorsports and the automotive industry. He is well known for his time running the World Endurance Championship, where he helped the series grow and played a major part in its development, including pushing for hybrid technology and helping adjust rules so that different types of racing organizations could work together.

Before leading the WEC, Neveu was also the Director of France’s Paul Ricard Circuit, another major name in European racing. With his deep network and experience handling international events, he has been seen as an ideal choice to guide Retromobile’s growth into the US market.

Organizers have set their sights high. For the U.S. debut, Neveu’s team will use 400,000 square feet across four halls at the Javits Center.

A notable highlight is the auction partnership with Gooding Christie’s, which brings together major names from the classic car auction world. The event hopes to gather around 200 to 250 exhibitors, with over 80% expected to be from the United States.

They also aim for attendance figures between 50,000 and 60,000 visitors for the first year. Retromobile Paris will reach its 50th anniversary next year.

The American expansion hopes to build on the classic car scene in the U.S., where more than half the market for collector cars is found. Last year, the Paris show attracted 146,000 guests, with nearly one in five coming from outside France.

There were over 600 exhibitors and classic car auctions tallied sales topping $125 million. The goal is to match that energy, but with a fresh New York touch.

Neveu believes the Retromobile concept stands out because it brings together the biggest collectors and sellers with manufacturers, brokers, and fans. For many people, it’s not only a chance to see rare and historic cars in person, but also to meet people who share a deep passion for cars.

Neveu describes it as an experience for all ages, one that brings back memories while also highlighting new trends in the automotive world. The choice of New York, rather than cities like Miami or a West Coast location, came down to several factors.

New York offers excellent logistics and already has a strong base of collectors and automotive brokers. Organizers think the city has the right mix of people and opportunity needed to help the event take off in the United States.

The collaboration with Gooding Christie’s is also seen as a real advantage, as the two companies bring broad experience and prestige to the show’s signature auctions. Neveu has said he wants to use his background running large-scale events to make Retromobile US a unique and special occasion for all visitors.

With Paris setting such a high standard over the past half-century, there is a clear goal to deliver the same spirit and style in New York, while also celebrating the local character and colorful American atmosphere. For classic car fans and collectors, the first Retromobile US promises to be an exciting new gathering on the calendar.

For those interested in broader motorsport news, recent discussions around Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton have captured significant attention.
