Lewis Hamilton faced a tough race at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend, finishing in sixth place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The seven-time world champion looked frustrated after the chequered flag and kept his answers brief in interviews.

During a post-race interview with Sky Sports F1’s Rachel Brookes, Hamilton did not elaborate on his struggles, sharing that it was “just not a great day.” When Brookes asked for details about the car and strategy, Hamilton responded simply, saying the strategy was good and that he had nothing more to add.

After the broadcast, it was revealed that Hamilton offered an apology to Brookes off-camera for his reserved tone during their exchange. Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft later shared that Hamilton personally told Brookes he was sorry for appearing so down, explaining he was feeling very low at that moment.

Croft emphasized that Hamilton is not one to put on a performance for the cameras and that his disappointment was sincere.

Hamilton’s sixth-place finish continued a challenging season. He has yet to earn a podium for Ferrari this year, while his teammate Charles Leclerc claimed his third podium of the season by finishing third at Barcelona.

Since joining Ferrari, Hamilton has been striving to return to his race-winning form, but so far, he has accumulated 71 points in the 2025 standings, ranking sixth among drivers.

Hamilton’s visible disappointment has fueled conversations about whether he is questioning his speed and his place at Ferrari after so many years of success at Mercedes. Despite the difficult weekend, many in the paddock and among fans still recognize him as one of the sport’s greatest drivers, with strong support for his commitment and openness.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, both representing McLaren, continue to lead the constructors’ standings with 362 points for the team.

The Spanish Grand Prix saw several key talking points. Max Verstappen and George Russell were involved in a notable on-track clash, adding to the drama of the race weekend. Verstappen, currently third in the standings with 137 points, faces continued scrutiny as Red Bull raised concerns about the FIA’s response to recent incidents.

As the season progresses, drivers and teams are preparing for the next stop on the 2025 calendar. With point gaps tightening in the standings, Hamilton and Ferrari are eager to find solutions that can get them back to podium contention over the coming races.
