NASCAR Mexico champion Rubén Rovelo will make his first-ever start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as the field heads to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for a highly anticipated race in Mexico City. Rovelo joins a group of three Mexican drivers set to compete in the 39-car event, bringing heightened excitement among local fans.

His appearance on Saturday, June 14, marks his debut in one of NASCAR’s three national divisions. Rovelo, age 37, is well known to racing fans in Mexico.

He captured the NASCAR Mexico Series championship in 2020 and has built an impressive record with 26 career victories. Since 2008, Rovelo has made 175 starts in the NASCAR Mexico Series, placing in the top five in points for six straight seasons.

This wealth of experience makes his Xfinity debut an awaited moment on the calendar for Mexican motorsport. For this Xfinity Series race, Rovelo will drive the No. 35 Chevrolet for Joey Gase Motorsports, partnered with Agua Skarch, a bottled water brand recognized throughout Mexico.

This will be the highest number of Mexican-born drivers participating in an Xfinity Series race since 2008, when five local competitors started the final Mexico City event that year.

Suarez, who races for JR Motorsports in the No. 9 Chevrolet, is one of Mexico’s most well-known drivers with a strong record across multiple series.

Perez De Lara, the 2024 ARCA Menards Series champion, steps into the No. 91 Chevrolet for DGM Racing, making his debut alongside Rovelo. Local fans have reason to be excited, as the inclusion of several Mexican drivers brings national pride to an international competition.
