Isack Hadjar’s entry into Formula 1 was anything but easy. The young French driver was promoted to the Racing Bulls team after finishing second in the previous year’s Formula 2 championship.
His debut came at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 3, 2025, a race marred by wet conditions. On his very first formation lap, Hadjar lost control of his car and crashed out before the race could even start.
The cameras stayed on him for an unusually long time, making the moment even more difficult for any newcomer. Many drivers placed in such a high-pressure environment, especially within the strict Red Bull driver program led by Helmut Marko, might have struggled to recover.
Instead, Hadjar impressed both fans and his team by bouncing back immediately. Since the Australian Grand Prix, he has managed to score points in five out of eight races.
His form has steadily improved, collecting points in each of the last three events, and placing himself ninth in the drivers’ championship. Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer praised Hadjar’s ability to regroup after the incident, noting that the difficult start actually put him in the global spotlight and tested his resilience.
Bayer described Hadjar as a positive and energetic teammate, emphasizing the importance of mental strength in Formula 1, especially for younger drivers. There have been whispers in the paddock that Hadjar might be in line for a promotion to the main Red Bull team.
Yuki Tsunoda’s struggles since his own promotion earlier this season, when he replaced Liam Lawson after only two races, have led to uncertainty about his future in Formula 1. With Tsunoda under pressure and Christian Horner and Helmut Marko open to making changes, Hadjar is one of the top young talents being considered for a potential seat at Red Bull in 2026.
Bayer described Hadjar as a “little pot of gold” for Racing Bulls, citing his dedication to the team and his pure passion for racing. According to the team boss, Hadjar’s understanding of race strategy has grown quickly.
He now asks questions about competitors ahead, monitors gaps closely, and gets actively involved in car setup decisions. Such involvement is rare for a rookie and signals a driver who is mature beyond his years on the track.
Statistically, Hadjar’s ninth position in the championship reflects remarkable progress for a first-year driver. His points have contributed to Racing Bulls’ current standing of 28 points in the team classification, helping his team stay competitive against more established midfield squads.
With the competition this season tighter than ever, every point earned has taken on added value for the team’s future. Hadjar’s journey from an early setback in Australia to consistent points finishes marks him as a standout rookie this year.
His rapid adaptation to Formula 1 racing and technical input have proven valuable for Racing Bulls. As the season continues, all eyes remain on Hadjar—not only to see if he can continue his top-ten streak, but also to watch for any upcoming moves that might see him racing in Red Bull colors next year.
