Cadillac has reached a new milestone at the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours, claiming its first-ever pole position for the legendary endurance race. The team’s success was highlighted by a one-two on the grid, with Alex Lynn posting a 3:23.166 in Hyperpole 2 to secure the top spot for the #12 car.

Lynn will share driving duties with Norman Nato and Will Stevens, both experienced competitors who played a key part in Cadillac’s strong showing. The #38 Cadillac, featuring 2009 Formula 1 champion Jenson Button, crossed the line just 0.167 seconds behind, making it a front-row lockout for the manufacturer.

The qualifying session saw high expectations for Ferrari, but the Scuderia was unable to contend for pole this year. Their top entry, car #50, placed seventh, while Toyota also faced troubles.

Sebastien Buemi made a mistake at Mulsanne Corner, which meant the #8 Toyota did not set a time during the critical session. Porsche Penske rounded out the top three, with their #5 car securing a competitive grid position for drivers Julien Andlauer, Michael Christensen, and Mathieu Jaminet.

In the LMP2 class, it was the #29 TDS Racing team that came out on top in qualifying. Drivers Rodrigo Sales, Mathias Beche, and Clement Novalak produced a strong performance that put them ahead of Inter Europol Competition and AO BY TF for the start of the race.

The LMP2 field featured a mix of established drivers and rising talent, promising close battles throughout the race’s 24-hour duration.

The LMGT3 category saw the #27 Heart of Racing Team set the pace in qualifying. Ian James, Zacharie Robichon, and Mattia Drudi worked together to earn the class pole.

The Vista AF Corse squad followed closely, while Valentino Rossi made headlines by helping the #46 Team WRT car secure third place in class. Competition in this new-for-2025 category looks fierce, with close times up and down the order.

Elsewhere on the grid, strong showings from BMW M Team WRT and Alpine Endurance Team ensured that multiple manufacturers would be fighting at the sharp end. The #15 BMW, driven by Dries Vanthoor, Kevin Magnussen, and Raffaele Marciello, will start fourth among the Hypercars.

Meanwhile, Porsche and Aston Martin each placed several cars inside the top fifteen, setting up a diverse field for the twice-around-the-clock classic.

RacingNews365 will provide race fans with key updates, including quarterly reports, the full starting grid listings, and summaries of any major incidents as this endurance test unfolds.
