Michael McDowell set the pace during the first NASCAR Cup Series practice at Autรณdromo Hermanos Rodrรญguez in Mexico City. This session marked a significant moment as the Cup Series drivers took to the 2.42-mile, 15-turn circuit for the first time.

Briscoe clocked a lap at 92.547 mph, while Gibbs finished just a shade slower at 92.542 mph. Austin Cindric was next with 92.528 mph, and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five after running 92.439 mph.

The remainder of the top ten featured Chris Buescher, Joey Logano, Ross Chastain, Shane van Gisbergen, and Todd Gilliland, all separated by tenths of a second. The unique Mexico City layout presented early challenges.

Turn 4, in particular, proved difficult for several drivers. Cindric missed his braking point there, and Noah Gragson made contact with the wall in the same section.

Others also struggled to slow for the sharp corner, highlighting the tricky nature of the new venue.

In the field, Ryan Truex, filling in for Denny Hamlin, completed his first session in the No. 11 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing and finished 36th with a top speed of 90.946 mph.

Each lap offered valuable experience for both veterans and newcomers trying to adjust to the technical circuit.

Several teams were impacted by logistical issues as they made their way to Mexico City.

Crew shortages forced some to make last-minute adjustments. Despite these challenges, drivers like Ross Chastain, who placed eighth, remained competitive.
