Daniel Suárez delivered an unforgettable performance in Mexico City, winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on June 14, 2025. The Monterrey native thrilled his home fans by claiming victory in the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet after starting from the rear of the field in a backup car.

Suárez had crashed during qualifying on Saturday morning but overcame the setback to lead 19 out of the 65 total laps. Crossing the finish line just 0.598 seconds ahead of Taylor Gray, Suárez’s determination was clear from the moment the green flag dropped.

Early in the race, a multi-car pileup eliminated strong contenders like Connor Zilisch and Ty Gibbs, helping Suárez move toward the front half of the field.

He made a critical move at the start of the final stage, taking the lead during a three-wide restart as the field reshuffled after the wreck.

From there, Suárez fended off heavy pressure from Gray, especially in the closing laps, to secure his win before an excited local crowd waving Mexican flags. Taylor Gray finished in the runner-up spot, while Austin Hill took third, followed closely by Christian Eckes and Connor Zilisch in fourth and fifth.

Zilisch showed resilience by recovering from early damage. William Sawalich, Austin Green, Jeb Burton, Harrison Burton, and Sammy Smith rounded out the top ten finishers.

The race saw a total of seven lead changes among six different drivers, with moments of drama in both the first and second stages, won by Kvapil and Smith respectively. The event was a meaningful milestone for Suárez, who not only demonstrated his racing ability but also played a key role in NASCAR’s return to Mexico.

Standing atop his car after the checkered flag, Suárez cheered and waved to his fans in the grandstands, thanking them for their support throughout the weekend. Winning on home soil was a special moment for the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion.

Championship leader Justin Allgaier faced difficulties during the race. After making repairs following a setback early on, he finished in 34th place.

Despite this result, Allgaier maintained his position atop the points standings, holding a 54-point lead heading into the next event. The series continues with the Explore the Pocono Mountains 250 at Pocono Raceway, scheduled for next Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern.

The race will be broadcast nationally, with coverage on The CW, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Suárez’s win in Mexico City stands out as one of the highlights of the 2025 Xfinity Series season and adds another strong result to his growing career.

The NASCAR community now shifts its focus to Pocono, where drivers will look to build momentum as the regular season progresses. With intense battles and dramatic moments seen in Mexico, expectations are high for more action in the upcoming races.
