Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull Racing, faced fresh speculation linking him to Ferrari following reports that he recently met with Ferrari CEO John Elkann. When asked about the alleged meeting and whether he had any intention of leaving Red Bull, Horner used his media experience to avoid a direct answer.

Instead, he labeled the claims as “pure rumour” and stood firm on his commitment to Red Bull, where he has served as team boss since 2005.

Ferrari has struggled in the early stages of the current Formula 1 season, with Fred Vasseur, their present team principal, under growing scrutiny. Rumors have intensified, suggesting that Vasseur could soon exit the team, creating a possible opening for Horner. An incident involving Ferrari earlier this season also brought additional attention to the team’s management challenges.

Adding to the intrigue, Horner is believed to have a contract with Red Bull that lasts until either 2029 or 2030, making any immediate move to Maranello seem unlikely. Nonetheless, his name continues to circulate in discussions about Ferrari’s future leadership.

During an interview with Sky Sports F1’s Martin Brundle, Horner was asked directly about the supposed talks with Elkann. Horner responded with some humor, saying, “Crikey! Martin, you know this business and pit lane. There are so many rumours,” before restating, “I’m not going anywhere. I’m fully committed to Red Bull.”

He emphasized the team’s ongoing projects, highlighting the development of Red Bull’s own engine for 2026, calling it a massive undertaking and a sign of his long-term plans with the squad.

The rumors around Horner have been especially persistent after a turbulent 18 months at Red Bull, including reports in early 2024 that he came close to losing his position amid internal politics. Despite the challenges, Horner maintains that he remains dedicated to guiding Red Bull, dismissing even the idea of joining other teams like Alpine, joking, “But no, I’m not going anywhere—not even to Alpine!”

Horner also addressed how being connected with top teams in Formula 1 could be flattering, but reiterated he has “no intention of being anywhere else.” With over two decades leading Red Bull, Horner has overseen the team’s multiple championship wins and their evolution into one of the sport’s powerhouses.

In the current 2025 season, Red Bull remains competitive, sitting fourth in the team standings with 162 points after recent races.

Meanwhile, Ferrari holds third place in the standings with 183 points, as Vasseur faces the challenge of turning around the team’s performance. McLaren and Mercedes round out the top two, with 374 and 199 points, respectively.

As the paddock continues to buzz with rumors, the official line from Horner remains unchanged.

With so much speculation in the Formula 1 world, Horner’s steadfast statements suggest he is focused on Red Bull’s future. The story continues to develop as the teams prepare for the next round of the 2025 championship season.
