The scale of Aston Martin’s challenge is significant. By January, three full track tests will begin with a completely new car, including power unit, transmission, fuel, and lubricant systems.
Two additional tests are planned before the first race of 2026, and the team aims to continue developing a new car for the 2027 campaign. All 11 teams face this challenge, but Aston Martin is managing a major shift as they move from being a customer team to a full works team, which brings new complexity in areas like transmission, hydraulics, and suspension.
This collaboration is expected to push technical boundaries as the sport moves into the next regulatory era.
Alonso’s long-term experience and demanding standards are key assets as the organization drives itself forward. While 2025 may have seen underwhelming results so far, the focus on development and rigorous internal standards could signal a significant improvement when the next-generation cars hit the track.
For now, the team is busy with preparations and multiple technical programs running in parallel. The close collaboration between Alonso, Cowell, Newey, and Honda is shaping Aston Martin’s bid to become a true title contender in the coming years.
The months ahead will reveal whether these dedicated efforts translate into competitive gains when the new era of Formula 1 begins in 2026.
