On some weekends, Norris has struggled to find the lap time he needs, which he says comes down to either making driver errors or not getting the right feel from the car. The British driver stressed the importance of working on both his technical skills and mental approach as the title fight heats up.
He explained that he is “not perfect in either” and is constantly working to get better. Sometimes, according to Norris, his mistakes are linked directly to the car not giving him everything he needs, while on other occasions they are simply down to areas where he feels there is still personal progress to be made.
This season has already featured some dramatic storylines.
Incidents between Norris and Piastri—including an intra-team collision—have influenced McLaren’s campaign. The Canadian Grand Prix also brought controversy, with a Red Bull protest being rejected after a close battle saw George Russell secure victory. These moments have kept the championship unpredictable and intense for both drivers and fans.
Mercedes is second with 199 points, followed by Ferrari with 183, and Red Bull on 162. The next round will be the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring on June 29.
The series then heads to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix on July 6, before further races in Belgium, Hungary, and the Netherlands throughout July and August. Lando Norris’s approach shows a mix of accountability and determination to close the gap to his teammate.
With ten races remaining this year, the battle for the championship remains open, with Norris aiming to capitalize on every opportunity behind the wheel of the MCL39. Fans can expect more twists in the title race as drivers and teams push to find extra performance throughout the demanding F1 calendar.
Meanwhile, McLaren’s progress has been closely watched following the team dynamics reminiscent of past battles involving Lewis Hamilton at Monaco.
