Highlights
- Taylor Dietsch won 2026 Summit Racing NHRA Nationals event
- Defeated points leader Jonathan Allegrucci in final round
- Dietsch moved to 11th in series, six points from top ten
- Awarded unique ice cream scoop trophy by Bill Bader
- Next event: Flexjet Series at Lucas Oil Raceway, Sept 2-7
Taylor Dietsch claims his first win of 2026 at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, defeating points leader Jonathan Allegrucci in an all-Cobra Jet final for his third series victory.
The result halts Allegrucci’s three-race streak and nudges Dietsch to 11th in the Flexjet standings, only six points shy of the top ten. Allegrucci retains the championship lead.
Dietsch edges the launch with a .031-second light to Allegrucci’s .038, converts that advantage into a 7.711 at 178.10 mph, while Allegrucci slows to 10.836 at 85.11 amid issues downtrack.

Any chance of a family final ends in the semifinals. Allegrucci beats No. 1 qualifier Jason Dietsch, 7.723 to 7.734, denying Taylor a head-to-head with his father.
Taylor’s route includes a measured win over Alex Anderson, 7.727 to 7.845, signaling consistent pace as conditions tighten across eliminations in Norwalk.
“It’s just been a perfect day,” Dietsch says. “Every round we raced was a good race. After the third round, we noticed a chance to improve our times and decided to go for it.”
The Norwalk tradition adds resonance. Track owner Bill Bader presents the custom ice‑cream scoop, a trophy Dietsch has long targeted, often visiting the venue with his father.

The performance context matters. Two Ford Mustang Cobra Jets set the final, but execution decides it. Dietsch’s sharper light and stable downtrack control prove decisive over Allegrucci’s compromised run.
Momentum now points to Indianapolis. With a $1,000 Flexjet bounty available, Dietsch enters the U.S. Nationals as a live threat, as the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Series resumes on September 2–7 at Lucas Oil Raceway Park.
Norwalk’s broader weekend storylines also feature marquee qualifying battles, including developments around John Force’s qualifying form after the event headlined by Dietsch’s breakthrough.
Dietsch’s third series win strengthens Ford’s current form and compresses the midfield points fight, while Allegrucci’s consistency remains the benchmark after Norwalk’s decisive swing.
The event forms part of a busy Norwalk slate that also produced notable headlines in the pro ranks, detailed in our Norwalk results coverage from earlier in the weekend.
