SCAG Racing Creates Unforgettable Norwalk Weekend Honoring America’s Heroes

SCAG Racing honors America’s military at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park, fielding four nitro cars in “Simply the Brave” tribute liveries.

On track, Daniel Wilkerson leads the effort in the SCAG Power Equipment Ford Funny Car, qualifying 12th with a 3.938-second pass at 322.50 mph.

He converts in round one by holeshotting No. 5 qualifier Matt Hagan with a .037 light and 3.935 at 327.59 mph, progressing to the quarterfinals.

Wilkerson launches with the day’s quickest Funny Car reaction, a .036, against Jack Beckman in round two, but immediate tire spin limits him to 11.550 at 76.39 mph.

Beckman advances on a clean 3.981 at 323.19 mph. Wilkerson notes the team will test at Norwalk on Monday to refine their Mustang’s launch window and consistency.

Dave Richards qualifies eighth in the Bluebird Turf Funny Car with a 3.930 at 335.90 mph, signaling strong potential on outright pace.

Against Del Worsham, Richards gains the jump, .101 to .124, but loses traction early and slows to 4.207 at 243.33 mph as Worsham’s 3.963 at 331.53 moves on.

In Top Fuel, Will Smith secures the No. 11 slot for Bluebird Turf with a 3.788 at 326.32 mph, then delivers the class’s quickest reaction, a .037, versus Tony Schumacher.

Justin Ashley qualifies 13th in SCAG’s Top Fuel dragster with a 3.801 at 328.30 mph and leaves first on Tony Stewart, .041 to .070, in round one.

Early tire smoke forces Ashley to 5.435 at 130.10 mph, as Stewart’s 3.758 at 328.86 mph advances. Ashley reiterates resolve after a challenging start to the season.
