Jason Collins seals his second win of the season at Bristol Dragway, taking the regular-season finale of the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Series at the Thunder Valley Nationals.
The series is presented by Elite Motorsports, and the event is powered by Cardinal Insurance.
He defeats top qualifier Mike Stavrinos in a tense final. Stavrinos red-lights by 0.005 seconds. Collins wrestles a loose car yet holds lane discipline to secure the trophy.

The result is his second win in three starts and a third straight final. Crucially, it locks a playoff berth ahead of Norwalk later this month.
Collins’ day turns on resilience. In round two he loses control during the burnout and taps the center guard wall near the start line, risking immediate elimination.
The team resets rapidly. Collins then stages and defeats Travis Harvey with a 5.786-second pass at 247.79 mph, reestablishing confidence and baseline performance.
Momentum continues with a semifinal win over Stan Shelton in 5.798 seconds at 247.52 mph. Execution and turnaround speed from the crew prove decisive.
Stavrinos, the event’s top qualifier, again shows pace and consistency. He dispatches Alex Laughlin, reigning 2023 champion J.R. Gray, and veteran Rickie Smith to reach another final.
The red light is costly, but his underlying form remains strong entering the postseason. The playoffs open June 25–28 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Derek Menholt leads the five-race playoff standings. Stavrinos sits second, with Justin Bond, Collins, and Shelton completing the top five after Bristol.
Collins credits his crew for the recovery and admits fortune plays a part. “I wasn’t supposed to win today,” he says. “This one is all because of my crew.”
Operationally, the team converts a near-terminal mistake into race-winning momentum. That responsiveness, combined with Collins’ composure, positions the entry as a live playoff threat.
