Goodyear Delivers Winning Tire Sets for Chase Tripleheader in Phoenix

Highlights
- Goodyear supplies tested tire setups for all NASCAR Chase events.
- Cup and O’Reilly Series use March Phoenix tire combinations.
- Truck Series returns to tire setup from last fall finale.
- Unique left-side Cup tire made specifically for Phoenix Raceway.
- Wet-weather tires allotted: four sets for Cup, three for others.
- Freeway Insurance 500 airs Sunday 3 p.m. ET on USA Network.
Goodyear will run proven tire combinations across all three NASCAR national series at Phoenix Raceway this Chase weekend, aiming to minimize variables and emphasize repeatable performance.
The NASCAR Cup Series and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series continue with the packages used at Phoenix in March. The Craftsman Truck Series reverts to the combination from last fall’s finale.
In Cup, the left-side is unique to Phoenix. The right-side planned for Sunday’s Freeway Insurance 500 has already run at five venues, most recently at New Hampshire in August.

Goodyear’s Justin Fantozzi says the Racing Eagles selected have a track record on Phoenix’s unusual demands. The blend draws from short-track and intermediate concepts, with a bespoke Cup left-side.
The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series uses the March Phoenix specification, a combination also seen recently at Gateway, for Saturday’s Timberland PRO 200.
The Trucks race Friday in the Zero Carbon Bioethanol 150 Powered by Poet on a setup used four times since last year’s championship, reinforcing baseline familiarity.
Wet-weather tires are available across all three series. Cup teams receive four sets. O’Reilly and Truck teams each get three sets for potential rain conditions.
Cup squads have 11 sets this weekend: eight new for the race, one qualifying set that carries into the race, and two practice sets.
O’Reilly cars have five sets in total: three new for the race, one qualifying set transferring to the race, plus one practice set. The Trucks follow the same five-set structure.
The continuity should stabilize strategy windows and aid long-run tuning. Teams can focus on balance, heat management, and track evolution rather than decoding a fresh construction.
This conservative approach reflects Goodyear’s broader emphasis on repeatable baselines, a theme seen in its recent programs such as Goodyear’s Charlotte tire update.
Coverage of the Freeway Insurance 500 starts at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday on USA Network, HBO Max, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. For weekend timings, see the updated schedule.
