Formula E Unveils Exciting Calendar Update and Major Extension

Highlights

  • Monaco E-Prix moved to 1-2 May 2027, ahead of Berlin races
  • Monaco E-Prix partnership extended through 2031 with ACM
  • 2026/27 Formula E season features record 21 rounds
  • GEN4 cars with 600 kW power debut during the season
  • “E-Prix Unleashed” format introduced for double-header weekends
  • Season begins with Jeddah night race double-header in December

Formula E and the FIA confirm a 2026/27 calendar revision, moving the Monaco E-Prix to 1–2 May 2027 after a World Motor Sport Council e-vote.

The change avoids a clash with the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on 15 May and aligns with Monaco’s wider events programme.

The event’s place now opens Formula E’s European leg, preceding Berlin on 8–9 May. Berlin’s dates remain unchanged, creating a tight six-day turnaround between venues.

Formula E and the Automobile Club de Monaco extend their agreement through 2031, cementing the race as a yearly double-header on the full Circuit de Monaco.

Partnership with ACM extended through 2031, confirming Monaco as an annual double-header.

Alberto Longo cites productive Gen4 running in Monaco and David Coulthard’s public demo as indicators of the venue’s potential for overtaking and close racing.

Monaco E-Prix moves to 1–2 May 2027, preceding Berlin’s 8–9 May rounds.

The 2026/27 season expands to a record 21 rounds, beginning with a Jeddah night double-header on 18–19 December, then visiting Mexico City, Austin, Miami, and São Paulo.

Asia follows with a single race in Sanya, before an eight-weekend European run featuring Monaco, Berlin, Brands Hatch, Zandvoort, and Madrid.

The season concludes in Asia-Pacific with double-headers in Shanghai and the Tokyo E-Prix during July, keeping late-season mileage high and strategy windows wide.

The Gen4 car debuts during the campaign. It delivers 450 kW in race trim and 600 kW in Attack Mode. Permanent all-wheel drive targets top speeds above 335 km/h.

A new “E-Prix Unleashed” race joins double-header weekends. The shorter format showcases unrestricted performance, adding variety without displacing the championship-scoring main events.

The calendar length and compressed gaps increase logistical pressure. Teams must balance spare parts, energy management, and reliability to remain competitive across 21 events.

That schedule could sharpen the title battle, rewarding outfits that adapt quickly between street circuits and permanent venues.

With Monaco retained as a showpiece and the schedule set, Formula E projects stability into the GEN4 era, supported by clear dates and an expanded footprint across key markets.

The updated calendar lists all 21 races with confirmed dates and venues.
