Theo Pourchaire will race for Opel GSE in Formula E next season, partnering Mitch Evans, whose return is expected after the current campaign concludes.
Move follows his departure from Jaguar after extensive Formula E preparation since 2022, including Gen3 and Gen4 running and multiple Maserati MSG tests before signing with Stellantis Motorsport.
That deal also places him full-time in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Peugeot’s 9X8, while Opel presents the most significant single-seater step of his career to date.

He praises the Gen4 package’s extra power, all-wheel drive and sharper deployment, which should shift braking, rotation and lift-and-coast demands compared to late-Gen3 baselines.
He frames year one around rapid learning with immediate execution, targeting consistent points as Opel calibrates systems, operations, and software to the new regulations.
Outside race events, Pourchaire has tested Stellantis programs at Miami, Jarama, Paul Ricard and Guadix, while serving Mercedes’ F1 team as an official simulator and development driver.
There is no formal Mercedes–Stellantis tie-up, yet Mercedes High Performance Powertrains is understood to advise on motor technology, creating useful cross-pollination for drivers operating in both ecosystems.
Opel evaluated Tim Tramnitz, Oliver Rowland and Nyck de Vries, but chose Pourchaire for racing intelligence and title pedigree, complementing an experienced lead to create the balanced pairing management targets.
Motorsport chief Joerg Schrott positions him as a future leader, indicating structured development alongside immediate race execution, rather than a pure apprenticeship year.

Evans is expected to be confirmed post-season, providing proven qualifying bite and racecraft to benchmark Pourchaire and accelerate Opel’s learning loop.
Although French, Pourchaire slots into Opel rather than Citroën, with Stellantis prioritising continuity at Citroën and fresh investment in Opel’s long-term driver pathway.
The Gen4 era’s higher power and front-axle deployment will reshape qualifying grip profiles and tyre usage, intensifying software edges as teams manage regeneration and traction maps.
As the season’s title battle tightens, Opel prioritises a stable baseline and early scoring to avoid software debt into mid-season updates.
Pourchaire’s blend of WEC racecraft, Formula E testing mileage and F1 simulator discipline should translate, amid wider interest in Formula E, into competitive execution from the opening rounds.
