Cadillac has replaced team principal Graeme Lowdon with Marcin Budkowski, effective at next weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, in a planned mid-season move to accelerate its F1 start-up.
The change comes amid a difficult debut campaign. Cadillac sits 11th in the constructors’ standings with zero points from 11 races, nine retirements, and a best finish of 13th.
Drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas have not reached the top 10 in qualifying or races. Perez briefly ran 10th in Monaco before a penalty dropped him out of contention.

CEO Dan Towriss frames the move as planned, praising Lowdon’s groundwork while setting a more ambitious trajectory. The objective is a front-running operation, not mere participation.
Budkowski, 49, brings more than two decades of F1 experience across Prost, Ferrari, McLaren, the FIA, and Renault/Alpine, and has advised various motorsport projects since leaving Alpine in 2022.
His mandate focuses on operational efficiency and faster car development under the cost cap, aligning people and processes to improve decisions and deliver repeatable performance gains across race weekends.
The shift marks a transition from building the organisation to extracting results. Short-term priorities are cleaner weekends, improved reliability, and better tyre preparation to stabilise race execution.

With zero points so far, any breakthrough is likely incremental. Consistent Q2s and late-race contention for their first points would show the processes are starting to bite.
Budkowski’s experience at team and regulatory level should speed decisions and development, while respecting budget-cap constraints. Efficient use of available ATR testing time remains critical.

Cadillac positions the change as intent to compete, not to survive. The medium-term target is to close the deficit to midfield leaders and become a regular presence in points battles.
For Perez and Bottas, a clearer development path and refined operations could unlock predictable balance and confidence. That, more than headline upgrades, usually underpins sustainable step-by-step gains.
