Rinus VeeKay Achieves Key Milestones in Stellar JHR Season

Highlights

  • Rinus VeeKay finished third at Milwaukee Mile, securing a podium.
  • Juncos Hollinger Racing earned only their second podium this season.
  • VeeKay is 10th in championship, leading Will Power by 13 points.
  • VeeKay achieved eight top-10 finishes, surpassing last season’s team total.
  • VeeKay won Rookie of the Year in 2020, beating Alex Palou.
  • Juncos praised team’s steady growth and potential for future success.

Rinus VeeKay delivered third place at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, ticking off his podium target and giving Juncos Hollinger Racing a timely result to close the season.

The finish also supports his second objective: secure a top-10 championship. He sits 10th, 13 points clear of Will Power, with the season finale at Laguna Seca to come.

VeeKay holds 10th in the standings, 13 points ahead of Will Power and 46 clear of Scott Dixon.

It is only the team’s second podium, the first arriving earlier this season at Milwaukee with Conor Daly. The Milwaukee double-header framed the run-in and tightened narratives across the field.

VeeKay’s result underlines JHR’s season-on-season growth. Eight top-10s already eclipse last year’s combined total across two cars, while three Firestone Fast Six appearances match the team’s previous all-time tally.

Eight top-10s and three Firestone Fast Six appearances underscore JHR’s biggest step forward to date.

Before 2026, JHR’s best championship result was 16th with Callum Ilott in 2023. VeeKay has already reset expectations and added profile with sixth at the 110th Indianapolis 500.

His broader trend is upward. He produced seven top-10s last season and helped lift his former team’s entrant points from 27th to 14th through consistency and cleaner execution.

Milwaukee third is Juncos Hollinger Racing’s second-ever podium, both scored in 2026.

VeeKay describes the progress as a product of pressure management and feedback loops. He says teams increasingly trust his direction on set-up windows and operational priorities.

That adaptability traces back to 2020, when he won Rookie of the Year ahead of Alex Palou. Three top-fives and five top-10s then signposted his ceiling.

Rookie of the Year in 2020, finishing ahead of Alex Palou.

The Juncos–VeeKay partnership is long-standing. He won USF Pro 2000 with the team in 2018, then missed the 2019 INDY NXT title by 21 points.

Now the immediate task is consolidation at Monterey. The season finale at Laguna Seca will decide whether he fends off Power and limits Scott Dixon’s late-season charge.

Juncos frames 2026 as validation. Since the programme’s 2017 origins, he argues methodical work, sacrifice and consistency are converting scepticism into competitive credibility.

Sustainability is the next test. Convert qualifying peaks into race control, and JHR’s ceiling extends beyond opportunistic podiums to routine top-10 efficiency.
