Jack Beckman secures the Funny Car No. 1 spot on Saturday at World Wide Technology Raceway, topping qualifying at the NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals.
The John Force Racing driver delivers a 3.866 at 332.59 mph in his PEAK Chevrolet SS, banking his third 2026 No. 1 and the 36th of his career.
He draws Dale Creasy Jr. for round one. Beckman has two St. Louis wins in three years and starts fifth in points, 126 behind leader Matt Hagan.

Beckman calls the lap one of his best under the conditions, noting execution and incremental gains remain decisive in the Countdown sprint.
Hagan, Alexis DeJoria, and Austin Prock all run 3.882. DeJoria’s faster speed earns P2, with Hagan P3 and Prock P4. Momentum favors Matt Hagan entering eliminations.
Top Fuel leader Shawn Langdon logs his seventh No. 1 with Friday’s 3.679 at 339.87. The Kalitta Air dragster holds firm on Saturday. His campaign also includes a speed-record win earlier this year.
Langdon, riding three straight wins and two in the Countdown, faces Tony Schumacher. Another fourth consecutive win would significantly strengthen his title position.
“We pushed in the final session to explore the limits,” Langdon says. “It looked strong early, then lost traction downtrack.”
Antron Brown posts 3.704 at 334.90 for P2. Rookie Maddi Gordon is third with 3.708, setting a 340.65 mph track speed record.

In Pro Stock, Troy Coughlin Jr. returns to the top with a Friday track record, 6.473 at 211.69, earning his first No. 1 in three years.
Coughlin meets Chris Vang in round one. He opened the Countdown with a win in Martin and targets a second victory from three playoff starts.
He says the turnaround reflects hard work and resiliency, crediting recent gains for unlocking consistent performance.
Greg Stanfield qualifies second with 6.474 at 210.93, and six-time champion Greg Anderson takes third at 6.470 at 210.50.
Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Gaige Herrera lowers the track mark to 6.644 at 202.76 on his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Suzuki, drawing Malcolm Phillips Jr. first.
Herrera, second in points, claims his third No. 1 of 2026, noting flawless grip. He sits two hundredths off his Dallas national record.
Matt Smith is second at 6.663 and 202.70, Joey Gladstone third at 6.695 and 201.37, and points leader Richard Gadson seventh at 6.729 and 202.06.
Eliminations begin Sunday at 10 a.m. CT at World Wide Technology Raceway, with the Countdown picture tightening across all categories.
