The International Hot Rod Association has postponed the Triple Crown event at Maple Grove Raceway, scheduled for May 22–24, citing persistent heavy-rain forecasts and safety, logistical, and competitive risks.

The decision arrives early to avoid an interrupted schedule, reduced sessions, and unnecessary travel for teams, fans, and event staff.

This race was due to open the three-event IHRA Triple Crown series, a new centerpiece for the sanctioning body’s professional calendar.

Five professional classes are set for the program: Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Mod, Pro Stock, and Mountain Motor Pro Stock.

IHRA postpones Maple Grove Triple Crown opener due to heavy-rain forecast for May 22–24.

A $1 million bonus is available in each class for any driver who sweeps all three Triple Crown rounds this season.

The weekend schedule also included deep sportsman and specialty fields, building a full-venue program alongside the headline categories.

$1 million bonus remains in place for any driver sweeping all three Triple Crown rounds.

IHRA reports low confidence that racing could proceed without major disruption, given the forecast and the operational complexity of running multiple pro categories.

Off-track plans were extensive, including a pit party, concerts headlined by Jake Owen and Dwight Yoakam, and the Bulls & Burnouts entertainment package.

Officials say postponing now preserves the intended fan experience instead of delivering a fragmented weekend under repeated weather holds.

Rescheduled date, ticket handling, and racer entry details will follow from IHRA.

IHRA is working with Maple Grove Raceway and partners to identify a replacement date and confirm revised logistics.

Information on tickets, racer entries, schedules, and support events will be issued once plans are finalized.

The Triple Crown has generated strong interest, and the sanctioning body remains committed to delivering a complete, top-tier showcase when conditions allow.

Further updates will be communicated through IHRA channels as the reschedule process advances.
