Melanie Johnson will defend her Top Alcohol Dragster title at Norwalk’s 20th Cavalcade of Stars on June 20-21, a pivotal Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Central Regional round.
The McPhillips Racing driver scored her first career win at the venue last season, doing so in only her sixth category start with the A/Fuel Dragster.
This Norwalk stop begins a two-week home stand, followed by the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, sharpening points opportunities during the Norwalk doubleheader.

McPhillips Racing has prioritised consistency and power in early 2026, refining clutch settings, fuel curves, and turnaround processes to stabilise performance across changing Norwalk conditions.
“Winning Norwalk last year was an incredible milestone,” Johnson said. “We’re focused on getting the Speedmaster car back to the Winner’s Circle.”
Semifinal runs at the U.S. Nationals and Texas FallNationals underline progress, yet the target remains clear: convert pace into a second Norwalk victory.
Crew chiefs Rich and Richie McPhillips oversee the A/Fuel combination, with AJPE hardware central to the package alongside Speedmaster support.
“Rich, Richie, and the guys have worked hard on our combination. Norwalk is one of the best tracks. I’m confident our early-season work will pay off.”

The program also benefits from NGK Spark Plugs, Lucas Oil, and ARP, strengthening reliability across repeated turnaround runs typical of Norwalk’s dense schedules.
Qualifying runs are scheduled Saturday, June 20, with eliminations Sunday, June 21.
The Norwalk surface, as highlighted by recent qualifying benchmarks, rewards efficient early‑increment execution and consistent downtrack power.
Within the Central Regional picture, consecutive Norwalk rounds can compress standings quickly, amplifying lane choice strategy and turnaround discipline.
Unpredictability across the NHRA season, evident in recent marquee upsets, reinforces the premium on repeatable baseline performance.
Johnson’s objective is straightforward: execute a clean weekend, capitalise on the team’s incremental gains, and leave Norwalk with momentum and meaningful championship points.
