Noakes and Elliott Dominate Quick 32 Sportsman Series on Labour Day Weekend

Brooklyn Noakes and Jory Elliott split Quick 32 Sportsman Series honours across the Labour Day National Open at Toronto Motorsports Park, held September 4–6 in Cayuga, Ontario.

Noakes, from Ilderton, takes Saturday’s overall title after a tense final against Rob Gray, while Elliott, from London, secures Sunday’s crown over Luke DeJonge.

Both winners receive limited NHRA 75th Anniversary Diamond Wally trophies, underlining the event’s status within the Quick 32 Sportsman Series double-header.

Saturday’s final matches Top Dragster versus Top Sportsman, as the format intends. Noakes clocks 4.814 on a 4.81 dial with a .030 light at 144.32 mph.

Gray replies with 4.439 on a 4.43 dial, a .047 reaction, and 159.91 mph. The Top Dragster entry prevails by 0.02244 seconds on the stripe.

Noakes reaches the crossover final after beating Connor Riddler for the Top Dragster class win. Joe Angione and Peter Carpenter are semifinalists, with Angione qualifying No. 1 at 4.547 and 157.97 mph.

Gray advances by defeating Dave Burchell for Top Sportsman honours. Cody Cook and Luke DeJonge make the semifinals. Burchell tops qualifying at 4.249 and 176.12 mph.

Noakes runs a 2001 Undercover Dragster with a 565 CID Big Block Chevy from Steve Schmidt Racing Engines. The team is led by Paul Noakes with support from Patti Bruder.

Gray’s 2003 Jerry Bickel Cavalier uses a 706 CID PAR Race Engines combination and Speedtech nitrous. Wilson and Gray Racing fields a deep crew, including Bill Wilson and Heather Gray.

Sunday again delivers a Top Dragster versus Top Sportsman final. Elliott’s 2005 Undercover Top Dragster posts a .014 reaction and 5.050 on a 5.03 dial at 136.75 mph.

DeJonge’s 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt responds with a .030 light and 4.554 on a 4.25 dial at 130.39 mph. The margin comfortably favors Elliott.

Elliott’s path includes defeating Saturday winner Noakes in the Top Dragster final, earning the Engineered Racing Services Bounty Hunter Award for that scalp.

Madison Graham and Simon Gosselin reach the semifinals in Top Dragster. Kyle Harris leads qualifying at 3.800 seconds and 196.71 mph, underscoring the class’s pace ceiling.

DeJonge reaches the overall final by beating Burchell in the Top Sportsman class final. Rob Gray and Michel Bastien make the semifinals. Burchell repeats as No. 1 qualifier at 4.154 and 177.55 mph.

DeJonge’s operation lists Fred and Sarah DeJonge on the crew, supporting the 763 CID nitrous-assisted Big Block Chevy package.

The Quick 32 format matches Top Dragster and Top Sportsman winners head-to-head, producing a single daily champion. That structure rewards consistency as much as outright pace.
