Langdon, Beckman, Glenn, and Smith Dominate at Cornwell NHRA U.S. Nationals

Shawn Langdon wins the 72nd NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, defeating Tony Stewart on Monday to secure his fifth victory of the 2026 season.

Langdon clocks 3.804 seconds at 333.99 mph in the SealMaster Kalitta Motorsports dragster. Stewart replies with 3.904 at 315.27 mph but cannot overturn Langdon’s start-to-finish control.

Top qualifier Langdon eliminates Clay Millican, Justin Ashley, and Leah Pruett to reach the final. The win is his 27th career and third at Indy, plus Brian Husen’s first here. He rises to second in the points standings ahead of the Countdown.

In Pro Stock, Dallas Glenn claims his first Indy win and wraps the regular season title. His Camaro records 6.599 at 207.56 mph to defeat Jeg Coughlin Jr. in the final.

Glenn’s path runs through defending winner Erica Enders before the decider. Greg Anderson’s early exit, combined with this win, secures the points lead and Countdown seeding. It is his fourth win of 2026 and 25th career.

Matt Smith extends his Pro Stock Motorcycle record at Indy, beating wife Angie Smith in the final. He posts 6.791 at 198.58 mph on his Denso Auto Parts Buell.

Smith qualifies first and dispatches Chris Bostick, Clayton Howey, and reigning champion Richard Gadson to reach the decider. Angie produces her third final of 2026 but slows to 6.834 at 194.80.

Elsewhere, reigning Funny Car champion Matt Hagan registers a fourth final this year, while Doug Kalitta secures the Top Fuel regular season crown for Kalitta Motorsports.

Gadson advances to the semifinals and locks the Pro Stock Motorcycle regular season title, plus $15,000 and the Countdown lead. The playoffs open September 18–20 at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Michigan.

The event again validates the stature of the U.S. Nationals, setting a clear competitive baseline as teams recalibrate for the points-reset Countdown format.
