FIA Formula 2 confirms a 14-round 2027 schedule, headlined by Mexico City’s debut and Istanbul’s return. The season runs from March in Bahrain to December in Abu Dhabi.

Series boss Bruno Michel announces the plan in Mexico City, positioning the additions as strategic steps to reach new audiences and strengthen F1’s talent pipeline.

Mexico represents F2’s first race in Latin America. It follows a 2026 expansion in North America, with Canada retained after a successful maiden campaign there.

The calendar follows F1 extensively, aiding logistics and audience crossover. Early-year rounds in the Middle East precede a transcontinental swing through Australia and North America.

F2 also introduces an updated car for 2027. It keeps the proven Dallara chassis concept and Mecachrome 3.4‑liter turbo V6 to control costs and preserve technical continuity.

Mexico City becomes the first-ever FIA Formula 2 event in Latin America, scheduled for October 29–31, 2027.

Power remains at 620hp at 8,750rpm with 570Nm of torque, running on Aramco’s fully sustainable fuel. New F1-inspired wings target cleaner airflow and more decisive overtaking.

The season opens at Sakhir on March 12–14, then heads to Jeddah on March 19–21. Melbourne follows on April 2–4, before Montreal on May 21–23.

Europe begins with Monte-Carlo on June 4–6, then Silverstone on July 2–4 and the Red Bull Ring on July 9–11. September features Monza 3–5 and Madrid 10–12.

Baku runs September 24–26, a pivotal street test at the Baku City Circuit. For context on formats, see the Baku time schedule.

October brings Istanbul on 1–3, exploiting its flowing, high-load layout, before Mexico City on 29–31. High altitude in Mexico will stress cooling and turbo efficiency.

The campaign concludes in the Middle East with Losail on December 3–5 and Yas Marina on December 10–12, a familiar championship crescendo.

Istanbul returns, pairing F2 with F1 at a venue renowned for high-speed direction changes and strategic tyre demands.

With 14 events, the calendar balances expansion and cost control. Regional grouping reduces freight complexity while preserving a representative mix of circuits and corner profiles.

The technical package is evolutionary by design. Stability helps teams maintain operational knowledge while aero updates aim to sharpen racecraft and improve following performance.

The 2027 car retains the Dallara chassis and Mecachrome V6, adding F1-style wings to enhance overtaking without escalating costs.

Further details sit alongside F3 in the FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 2027 calendars, framing a season built to test adaptability and consistency.
