Peugeot confirms Alex Quinn will move from test driver to full-time Hypercar race seat for the 2027 World Endurance Championship.
The decision follows a consistent test and development programme, including his Bahrain rookie test debut and subsequent integration as Peugeot’s seventh driver.
Peugeot monitored his progression closely, preparing a path mirroring Malthe Jakobsen’s elevation, and timing confirmation days after Quinn clinched IMSA’s LMP2 title with CrowdStrike by APR.

Quinn, 25 and turning 26 in December, calls the move a dream realised, citing readiness built through simulator mileage, endurance mileage, and recent multi-class competition.
His route features British F3 wins, Renault Eurocup success, and a Formula Regional Europe stint before switching to sportscars in 2023 across IMSA and ELMS.
He has started Le Mans the past three seasons, adding this year’s LMP2 Pro/Am victory to a growing résumé of class wins.
Team principal Emmanuel Esnault highlights Quinn’s Le Mans class triumph, a Rolex 24 at Daytona LMP2 win, and multiple IMSA and ELMS victories as proof of immediate race-day value.
The promotion lands amid reshuffle. Stoffel Vandoorne departed after Fuji, while Theo Pourchaire heads to Opel’s Formula E programme, and Malthe Jakobsen is expected to join McLaren’s LMDh project.
Peugeot has added Robert Shwartzman and is likely to reinstate Jean‑Eric Vergne, leaving two race seats still to be finalised for 2027.
The competitive picture should stabilise under the evolving Hypercar ruleset and a strengthened FIA‑ACO governance framework, following the recent FIA‑ACO WEC agreement, announced earlier this season.
For Peugeot, promoting a seasoned tester reduces integration risk. Quinn’s LMP2 grounding suits WEC’s traffic, BoP shifts, and strategy windows shaped by WEC race control in recent rounds.
Expect Quinn to contest the full calendar, including Le Mans, as Peugeot targets consistent points and podiums with the evolved 9X8.
Execution, reliability, and tyre management will dictate ceiling, but Peugeot now pairs technical continuity with fresh momentum.
