Austin Prock targets a pivotal weekend at the NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex, returning as defending Funny Car winner and chasing a third straight title.
The event opens the Countdown’s second half. Prock sits third in points, 106 behind leader Matt Hagan, with 12 elimination rounds remaining.
St. Louis victory restored momentum for the Tasca Racing Ford Mustang. Prock topped qualifying here last year and set 2024 track records, with cool conditions expected to aid performance.

“Dallas is a special event for everyone on the team,” Prock said. “If the conditions stay cool, this car will be ready to perform.”
The Motorplex sits inside the 10-day Stampede of Speed, amplifying competitive stakes and track evolution across sessions.
Hagan enters as benchmark, owning five Dallas wins, including the last two. Contenders J.R. Todd, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman, and Jordan Vandergriff deepen a volatile ladder.
Friday night features the “Battle for the Saddle,” with Top Fuel and Funny Car chasing $15,000. Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle post $7,500 and $5,000 prizes respectively.
Saturday’s final qualifying includes the “Speedy Armadillo” trophy, presented by VP Racing Spirits and its Twisted Sisters Texas Whiskey brand.
Last year’s event winners were Doug Kalitta in Top Fuel, Dallas Glenn in Pro Stock, and Richard Gadson in Pro Stock Motorcycle, with Pro Stock heavyweights like Elite Motorsports again shaping the class.
Qualifying runs are scheduled for two sessions Friday and two on Saturday. Final eliminations begin Sunday at noon Central Time.
FS1 airs qualifying Sunday morning, with eliminations coverage later in the afternoon at 4 p.m. Eastern.
Prock credits Tasca Racing’s improved execution since May. The group has converted pace into consistent late-round appearances, tightening processes around tune-up windows and turnaround discipline.
With the NHRA’s 75th season intensifying, Prock’s defending-winner status and recent form make this Texas race a key inflection point in his title pursuit.
