Membership brings access to NHRA-sanctioned competition, including the Summit Racing Series presented by Hoosier. The track can also stage Jr. Drag Racing League, Street Legal, and Jr. Street categories.

Eligibility extends to special programs like Summit King of the Track. National-level insurance, promotional tools, and operational support are part of the package, reducing risk and broadening exposure.

NHRA sanctioning enables Summit Racing Series, Jr. Drag Racing League, and Street Legal programs to run under a unified rulebook.

Division director Jonathan Johnson highlights the venue’s historical weight in Texas drag racing. He underlines the role community tracks play in talent development and long-term audience growth.

NHRA’s strategy centers on equipping member tracks with resources to scale. The intent is to improve event quality, strengthen safety frameworks, and expand commercial reach.

“Family-friendly standards remain unchanged,” says general manager Mike Garvin, stressing continuity alongside new opportunities.

Looking ahead to 2027, the schedule is expected to feature a deeper NHRA presence. That could include marquee opportunities alongside series such as NHRA Pro Mod.

The partnership should lift competitive depth and community engagement. It adds sanctioned pathways for newcomers while giving established racers more meaningful targets.

The track’s 70th anniversary aligns with NHRA integration, signaling stability and renewed growth potential in Division 4.

The move arrives amid broader grassroots activity across U.S. venues. Recent developments, including the Piedmont Dragway sale, reflect shifting ownership and investment patterns.

Momentum at the professional level also shapes the narrative, from standout driver storylines to event drama, including Chris King at the FallNationals.
