McLaren Racing confirms a multi-year partnership with Global, unveiled on 18 May at the Woking Technology Centre, naming Global race and audio partner for its Formula 1 and Hypercar teams.

Global branding will appear on team radio headsets at selected Formula 1 rounds, including Monaco and Silverstone, integrating into live communications seen on broadcasts, pit-wall feeds, and McLaren’s behind-the-scenes content.

Founded in 2007, Global owns Capital, Heart, Smooth, Classic FM, LBC, and Radio X, supports a 250,000-site outdoor network, and operates Global Player for live radio, podcasts, and on-demand content.

The deal extends to McLaren’s World Endurance Championship Hypercar project, slated for a 2027 debut, aligning brand activation with programme build-up toward Le Mans and the category’s top-flight competition.

Co-chief commercial officer Matt Dennington frames the partnership around meaningful fan connection, leveraging Global’s presence in iconic race environments to amplify McLaren storytelling across the calendar.

Global’s chief commercial officer Mike Gordon positions Global Player at the centre of a global sporting platform, aligning with motorsport’s emphasis on performance, precision, and measurable audience engagement.

Headset branding expands sponsor inventory without adding car-livery clutter, fitting within F1 commercial regulations, while exploiting frequent camera shots of pit-wall staff and drivers during live radio moments.

Targeting Monaco, Silverstone, and key European rounds concentrates reach where broadcast and attendance peaks, supporting trackside activations and tie-ins with Global’s flagship breakfast shows.

Branding will feature on race-team headsets used by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri during selected marquee events.

Coordinating assets across Formula 1 and endurance racing delivers year-round touchpoints, maintaining sponsor continuity as McLaren builds its Hypercar entry through testing, driver selection, and technical milestones.

The audio-led brief naturally extends to podcasts, behind-the-scenes features, and on-demand clips, offering Global measurable funnel growth for Global Player and McLaren richer owned-channel content.

Global operates one of Europe’s largest commercial radio portfolios alongside a vast UK outdoor network and digital streaming platform.

As a multi-season agreement, performance will be tracked through broadcast minutes, headset visibility, digital reach, and conversion, informing future expansions or additional race-weekend selections.

The partnership strengthens McLaren’s commercial platform while giving Global prominent placement in elite motorsport, reinforcing both brands on and off track as the season develops.
