Ed Carpenter Racing confirms on June 4 that Christian Rasmussen will remain its No. 21 Chevrolet driver for 2027 and beyond, signing a multiyear extension.
The 25-year-old Dane joined ECR in 2024 and has contested his entire INDYCAR career with the Indianapolis-based team.
The decision emphasises continuity after internal changes, aiming to stabilise processes and accelerate performance gains across car development, operations, and race execution.

Rasmussen and ECR delivered their first series win together at the Milwaukee Mile in 2025, a landmark result that validated the programme’s trajectory.
Before INDYCAR, he rose through the U.S. ladder, winning USF2000 in 2020, USF Pro 2000 in 2021, and INDY NXT by Firestone in 2023.
In 2024, he handled road and street duties in ECR’s No. 20, started the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie, and later added the season’s final oval races.
He finished as the Indianapolis 500’s top rookie, then graduated to the full-time No. 21 seat for 2025, underpinned by a multiyear agreement.
ECR owner and chairman Ted Gelov praises Rasmussen’s adaptability and resilience, arguing adversity has hardened the group and aligned momentum with the team’s culture and shared objectives.

Co-owner and CEO Ed Carpenter highlights the value of continuity in the driver lineup, citing two seasons of steady development and growing synergy with engineering and operations.
The extension positions Rasmussen among ECR’s longest-serving drivers across the team’s 15-year history.
Rasmussen’s oval credentials are clear: sixth at the Indianapolis 500, third at World Wide Technology Raceway, and the 2025 Milwaukee victory.
He also led 69 laps at Phoenix this season before a late incident ended a potential win challenge, underlining progress despite missed opportunity.
Form and track profile suggest this weekend’s Bommarito 500 at WWT Raceway could suit ECR’s package, offering another chance to consolidate the programme’s long-term future.
The race runs Sunday, June 7 at 9 p.m. ET, live on FOX, FOX One, and INDYCAR Radio.
