NHRA has added Swamp Bottom Drag Strip to its Member Track Network, confirming the under-construction Columbia, Mississippi venue as part of the South Central Division.
Owned by Brad and Tawanah Reid, the facility progresses with concrete, lighting, and a timing tower, aligning early with NHRA standards to streamline approvals and future operations.
Joining the NHRA Member Track Network embeds governance, safety protocols, and competitive structure from day one, anchoring the project within established divisional oversight.

Once open, the track will host NHRA Summit Racing Series rounds, including the Jr. Drag Racing League, Street Legal, and Jr. Street classes.
Specialty opportunities, such as NHRA Summit King of the Track, broaden competitive pathways for local racers and create headline moments for the new calendar.
Membership brings tangible support: operational guidance, insurance solutions, and national marketing platforms that can accelerate event growth and commercial partnerships from launch.
South Central Division Director Jonathan Johnson welcomes the addition, stressing the facility’s role in creating fresh opportunities for racers, families, and fans across southern Mississippi.

Early collaboration allows the NHRA and the Reid family to bed-in procedures, ensuring consistent scrutineering, timing accuracy, and efficient event delivery from the first race weekend.
The region’s established fan base and driver pool should translate into robust grids and sustainable attendance, positioning Columbia as a focal point for South Central grassroots racing.
That momentum mirrors wider NHRA trends, from rising local participation to headline achievements by stars such as Ron Capps, which elevate visibility and attract new audiences.
