DTM Promotion Boosted: Road-to-DTM Winner’s Support Quadrupled

Highlights
- Road-to-DTM prize money quadruples to 620,000 euros from 2027
- Prize covers over one-third of typical DTM car budget
- GT Masters prize fund increases to 775,000 euros next season
- ADAC GT4 Germany introduces 235,000-euro Road-to-DTM classification
- Endurance races replaced by one-hour races with mandatory pit stops
- Prize focus shifts to Road-to-DTM winners, boosting targeted support
ADAC will quadruple its Road‑to‑DTM award to 620,000 euros from 2027, intensifying support for juniors and lowering the financial barrier to a DTM seat.
Until now, the program mainly waived the following season’s entry fee. In 2026, Finn Wiebelhaus received 109,000 euros plus VAT and tire prizes, totaling about 150,000.
A typical DTM season costs roughly 1.5 million euros per car. The new package covers more than a third, strengthening promotion prospects and stabilising the talent pipeline.

The step below also gains heft. The ADAC GT Masters prize fund climbs to 775,000 euros next season, increasing the series’ pull for teams and young drivers.
Eligibility targets true prospects. Drivers must be under 25 and hold FIA Silver status, with points from qualifying included to reward outright pace as well as race execution.
The 620,000-euro support includes the DTM entry fee and, for the first time, a full-season tire package for racing and testing. A cash component further bridges remaining budget gaps.
ADAC also refines preparation. Endurance races introduced in 2025 are dropped, replaced by one-hour contests with mandatory stops, mirroring demands seen at the Hockenheim test.
Support widens further down the ladder. ADAC GT4 Germany adds a Road‑to‑DTM classification worth 235,000 euros, covering fees, tires, and contributions toward an ADAC GT Masters campaign.
That package offsets much of the roughly 350,000‑euro GT3 junior budget. The BMW M2 Cup fund rises to 305,000 euros, with 170,000 earmarked for a GT4 Germany seat.
Funding growth comes from reallocating existing awards. From 2027, prize and tire resources focus on Road‑to‑DTM winners rather than being spread thin across classes and events.
In ADAC GT Masters, the 31,500 euros per race prize money will largely flow to the Road‑to‑DTM victor, sharpening incentives and clarifying the route to DTM.
Collectively, these changes promise fuller grids, better-prepared rookies, and a clearer financial runway into German touring car racing.
