Fuel Altered CHAOS returns to Tucson Dragway on November 5-7, staging the world’s largest altered showcase across three days of competition.
More than thirty outlaw fuel altered teams are pre-entered nationwide, promising varied machinery, contrasting strategies, and significant tuning range across nitro, alcohol, blown, and turbocharged combinations.
The format blends Funny Car Chaos spirit with Nitro Chaos 2027 freedom, imposing no restrictions on fuel or engine architecture, and prioritising showpiece variety over technical convergence.

Race control balances disparity through three eight-car fields, ensuring competitive matchups and dense scheduling from first pair to final round.
Last year’s Tucson debut drew packed grandstands, with Lyle Greenberg, Mitch Bowen, and Reed Taylor winning A, B, and C respectively.
Arizona’s Johnny West returns with the Plan A altered, joined by Neese & Knowles, Speed Sport, and Blind Faith. Local outfits target home advantage against a deep visiting roster.
The Farris family’s War Wagon, driven by Kebin Kinsley, headlines on outright performance. Rodney Flournoy’s Godzilla makes its first CHAOS start, adding proven Funny Car firepower.

Veteran Randy Bradford extends his long-running Bradford’s Fiat programme. Sheldon Lofgreen’s twin‑turbo Arizona Thunder joins a field heavy with blown alcohol fuel altereds.
Track manager Jim Hughes underlines the event’s appeal: high energy in the pits, strong fan engagement, and nightly header flames that showcase the category’s raw spectacle.
Tickets are on sale. The 2027 calendar adds Mo‑Kan Dragway on June 10‑12 before a Tucson return on November 4‑6, reinforcing CHAOS’s national footprint.
Commercial backing includes Laris Motorsports Insurance, Western Differential of Tucson, CP‑Carrillo, and Diamonds & Design Jewelry, underpinning event logistics and purse structure.
As a spectator proposition, CHAOS offers breadth and unpredictability that resonates beyond niche circles, including interest in women racers in drag racing and broader grassroots stories.
Recent profiles, including Melanie Johnson’s Texas campaign, show how regional talent feeds events like Tucson, strengthening the category’s competitive base.
