Jordan Vandergriff targets a decisive weekend at the Texas Motorplex, pursuing victory at the Texas NHRA FallNationals on October 16-18.
The John Force Racing driver, in the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car, sits second in points after 17 of 20 events. Three wins and three runner-ups underpin that position.
Dallas also carries unfinished business. Vandergriff reached the final here in 2019, qualifying sixth and defeating Clay Millican, Lee Callaway, and Austin Prock before losing to Billy Torrence.
A strong launch in that final unraveled with tire issues. That near miss informs his approach now, with execution and risk management central to his weekend plan.

Form is credible. The Countdown opened with a surprise win at Michigan from 16th qualifier, followed by a runner-up two weeks ago at St. Louis.
The team’s outlook is pragmatic. Target each round, stabilise the car in changing track conditions, and control outcomes rather than points arithmetic.
Context matters in the Countdown. Dallas precedes Las Vegas, then Pomona’s points-and-a-half finale. Minimising errors now reduces dependency on rivals’ slip-ups later.
October’s programme includes charitable focus. Cornwell Quality Tools Pink product sales support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, with a minimum annual donation of $15,000.
Competitive incentives are layered. Friday’s “Battle for the Saddle” awards $15,000 to the low qualifier in Top Fuel and Funny Car, heightening night-session stakes within the Stampede of Speed Showdown.

Vandergriff’s week also includes fan events: the Tony Stewart Bowling Tournament on October 14 in Euless, plus Fan Fest autographs on October 15 in Waxahachie, and a Cornwell Tools session on October 17.
On-track, qualifying runs are Friday at 4:15 p.m. and 7 p.m., with Saturday sessions at noon and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations begin Sunday at noon, October 18.
FS1 coverage airs qualifying Sunday at 11 a.m. ET and eliminations at 3 p.m. ET. Execution across early rounds will decide whether Vandergriff converts momentum into Dallas victory.
